entourage drives me nuts!

The last 2 days have been a nightmare with Entourage….

For those of you who do not know, Entourage is the Mac version of Outlook. Here is the ONE thing I like about Entourage. It looks cool. Outside of its looks, it really stinks, sucks, blows, bites…whatever.

Version 2007 should be out Summer…

Here is my issue. I run Entourage with Exchange. Everything SHOULD stay on the Exchange server, mail, calendar, address book, etc. EVERYTHING stays except email. Emails come in, and the routes to the local Folders On My Computer.

This is a huge problem because it pulls if off the Exchange server and then totally messes up my Blackberry.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM??? I did not mess with anything. Gone for lunch, come back and tada… “tada = productivity killer”

No clue. Sounds like a uninstall, reinstall.

On another note, Mac Leopard will roll out Apple Mail, and Calendar that integrate with Exchange automatically. That might be a perfect solution….

iChat to Japan

I continually marvel a how small the world it today….

My grandmother, who is in her mid-eighty’s has NEVER been on an airplane. I would take a guess and say that she may have never been out of Texas. Talking with her she really has no desire to go anywhere else, or fly anywhere. Mema (her official grandma name) has never been on the Internet and does not have any desire.

Next generation my Mom. She is now fully connected to the web, sends email and uses her computer to connect with friends. She has email, and MS Word down!

Me…well, you know me. This morning I had a iChat video conference with a guy in Japan that is a LifeChurch.tv fan, and attends our Internet Campus. Full screen video, amazing interaction.

What will the world look like for Reese(2) and Reia(5)? They both are very active on Ruby, their iMac and are fully engaged with technology. Both of them can handle the Tivo remote and navigate there way to Backyardagans, Max and Ruby or Wiggles with ease. I am very confident that they will look at ol’ dad in the future and tell me I am so out of date!

iChat to Japan this morning…teleport to Experience Island in Second Life this afternoon…what will we be doing next year?

The framing process…

When we moved to Edmond, OK one of the big decisions we made was to build a house. After looking all around, and visiting some homes we decided that building was the way to go. We have “built” 2 homes, and bought 1 pre-existing home. I know there are pros and cons on both sides but Robin and I are admittedly VERY picky… When you are as nit picky as us we decided that this was the best solution.

Framed House

If you look close you can see little Reese in the picture!

So, in the last 3 months… changing jobs, moving out of state, building a house… No wonder I have to color my hair!

LifeChurch.tv and Second Life…

Team Digerati has been working on some really cool stuff that I look forward to sharing with you all. The first big project “shipped” today that I thought you might enjoy looking at.

Check out the official announcement at the Swerve blog to learn all about it….

Tired

Around 8:30 pm last night we checked out of our hotel in Austin and jumped in the rental car…bound for Oklahoma.

6 some odd hours later around 3:30 am I climb into bed…

It will be a Starbucks day for sure!!!!!!!!!

SXSW Sunday Highlights

Sunday was a very interesting day at South by Southwest. By interesting I really mean not that great. I am not sure what it is, but the last time I was here I just thought it was a lot better…. However, on the bright side, today the best session was a technical session called AJAX or Flash. One of the projects on my to-do list is re-building our LifeChurch.tv Internet Campus. For this project we went through a very in depth look at both technologies and landed on a direction. (I look forward to sharing more with you about this at a later time!)

Other sessions attended: Designing for Convergent Devices, Keynote- Phil Torrone & Limor Fried, Independent User Creation.

On another note I forgot to mention that I took Bobby to my favorite BBQ place in Texas… Rudy’s BBQ. That was a remarkable experience.

Bobby’s recaps of SXSW- here and here

SXSW Saturday Highlights

Saturday at SXSW was a good, not really a great day. The big highlight was Kathy Sierra. Kathy has a wonderful blog called Creating Passionate Users. If you are not reading it, then subscribe here today. Her big thought, is… WTF?. For those of you who are not familiar with WTF?, it stand for What the F. WTF? is the feeling that users have when they interact with your software. Maybe your website, maybe software, maybe your piece of technology. Hey, maybe WTF? at your church. Anyway, it’s all about knowing when your users don’t understand something and helping them through it. Simplify and interact with people like they are human…. good stuff, and really a great reminder.

Other sessions attended: TV:The Next Generation, Ghost in the Machine: Spirituality Online.

Interesting note. When did downtown Austin (i.e. 6th street area) become so New York? There are pizza vendors everywhere…. When did that happen?

SXSW- Austin style

Tomorrow morning Bobby and I are jumping on a plane heading back to the glorious state of Texas, Austin style. We will be attending the South by Southwest conference. This will be my third time to SXSW, and I am a huge fan… Freaks, geeks, and geniuses. Not sure where Bobby and I fit, but I am sure it will be fun. A few of the speakers this year are Kathy Sierra from Creating Passionate Users, Phil Torrone of MAKE Magazine, and Dan Rather.

If you want to connect during the conference shoot me an email-> terry.storch (at) gmail (dot) com.

George Costanza

As only George Costanza could put it….

“I’m back baby!”
