big weekend

Easter weekend is always a big weekend as a church staff member. For the past 13 years I have been involved heavily in some way with a ministry area on Easter, but nothing like what I am going to experience this weekend. This weekend we are launching the LifeChurch.tv Second Life Island known as Experience Island.

Frankly we have no idea what to expect. The buzz has been growing, and people from all over the world are finding us. The most exciting thing to me is the people that I have been able to connect with in SL that would never darken the doors of a church in RL (real life). Take an hour and join us this weekend.

LifeChurch.tv Second Life
Sunday
8:00am, 9:30am and 11:00am (Second Life Time…aka PDT)

For those of you who do not yet understand time zones…..

Hope you are able to join us in SL. If you are tied up on Sunday, but might be able to try it out on Saturday….then read Swerve here. Have a great Easter weekend!

communication revolution

The past few days I have been thinking about and writing down what I am going to be speaking about at MinistryCOM. Yes, I know….the conference is not until Sept 07. My thoughts exactly.

I want to thank Jeff, Robin, and Dawn for giving me some amazing feedback and direction. Here is what the final copy came out looking like for the brochure. I would love your thoughts on it, and would really love to start a conversation about what you would like to hear about and most importantly what you would like to leave the conference with.

Communication Revolution
The communication REVOLUTION is on. Web 2.0 is creating conversations with powerful tools such as wikis, blogging, and podcasting and has revolutionized communication as we know it. Digg, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Brightcove and so many others continue to challenge our thinking daily and force us all to realize communication looks radically different today and is changing at a rapid pace. How can we leverage technology to reach people more effectively?

This conversation will unpack the complex and ever changing climate we live in and give you some simple strategies to start a communication revolution of your own.

Thoughts?

tiger woods, web2.0 and church

Yes, 3 things I love. But that is not the reason for the title…

I just read a blog post over at Micro Persuasion entitled: Become an Online Influencer by Modeling Tiger Woods

Here’s a closer look at the nine traits through a Web 2.0 lens. They are valuable not only for individuals, but also marketers who what to stay relevant in this chaotic environment as well as startups that are competing in a flat world where anyone can eat your lunch. -Steve Rubel

What is missing? I think this might be the best post about the local church thats not about the local church that I have read in a long time.

Maybe I should copy the post and say something like this:

Here’s a closer look at the nine traits through a dynamic local church lens. They are valuable not only for individuals, but also leaders and pastors who what to stay relevant in this ever changing environment as well as large churches that are struggling to innovate and execute in a flat world where the young and hungry churches are blowing your doors off. -Terry Storch

I really like it, hope you enjoy it as well. [link]

stuff from sunday…

Today was a really great Sunday. It all started with the launch of the LifeChurch.tv NW OKC Campus. I had the awesome opportunity to do some greeting in the parking lot, direct some traffic, and shake some hands. It was a blast. However, the main reason for my trip was to work with some professional photographers to capture the launch, but the “relator” in me just naturally came out…

More info about the launch at Swerve [here].

The energy at the campus was great, and everything in my opinion went outstanding. I look forward to seeing what God is going to do with this amazing campus.

Then came the afternoon, and that was family time. The agenda looked like this, visit the new house, play at the park, and get some Ice Cream at Braums..

Planet Earth is back on tonight, so it looks like that is how we will wind down the night!
