Do people get burned out from 'ministry'. Or is it from a 'job' with long hours, large commitments, high stress, etc.

What is the true difference between a secular job and many ministry jobs? If you are a passionate christian there is not a big difference, excluding salary and 'product'.

There are a multitude of business-related books that deal with job-related issues like this. Why write a book directly to those only in official ministry? Christians who are in any place in life, whether corporate, volunteer, education, etc. are all susceptible to burnout for the same reason anyone directly employed in ministry is.

I am just as much at risk for sin as anyone. It's likely that many of the same struggles people have as pastors, staff and volunteers are those I have also had, have or will have.

All of the comments on the book I have read, so far, are from people who have been in ministry all of their life, some in the same position. I'd also struggle with burnout if I did something I was passionate about for that long.

If this book is applicable to those in ministry, I think it would also be of benefit to a larger audience than those who work in the 'church'.

Volunteer burnout is one of the core reasons why I ended up writing my eBook called "Handle With Care". I was seeing too many volunteers and staff members burning out. I'm encouraged that others are also seeing the issue and finding ways to communicate the issues at hand.

Wow! This is a subject I felt for many years needed some honest open discussion. Being the spouse of a staff member it's hard to express how you feel when things seem to be awry with out feeling like you are complaining or are not faithful enough.

I will most definitely take the survey. I will encourage the staff members I know to do the same.

Thanks Ann for taking on this difficult challange.
