NPR interviews Dave Grohl
On Oct 22, 2007 NPR interviewed Dave Grohl….listen here.
It’s an awesome interview with a musical genius!
Ear Bud Madness…
Its been a while since the last Ear Bud post, so I thought I would share with you the music I have been enjoying the past month or so.
Alter Bridge- Blackbird : Really enjoying this new album.
Kristien Stanfill- Hello : This kid is amazing.
Foo Fighters- Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace : A rad album. (Rad was inspired by Kat Von D)
Eddie Vedder- Into the Wild : A mellow album, but I am really enjoying it.
Spoon- Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga : I have not listened enough to comment just yet.
How about you… What are you listening to that I should add?
Rise Today….Change this World!
The wind is blowing cold
Think we lost our way tonight
Think we lost our hope to sorrow
Feels like were all alone
Running further from what’s right
And there are no more heroes to follow
So what are we becoming?
Where did we go wrong?
I WANT TO RISE TODAY AND CHANGE THIS WORLD
OH WON’T YOU RISE TODAY AND CHANGE THIS WORLD?
Download Rise Today from iTunes.
Lyrics from Alter Bridge new single, Rise Today. Let me go on record and say I was a massive….huge….crazy fan of Creed! Yes, I know Creed. But I will also say that I had the My own Prison album in 1997 before many knew who they were.
So, on with my music rant…Mark Tremonti, lead guitarist of Alter Bridge and formerly of Creed is one of the most amazing guitarist. His tones, riffs and the left leg on the wedge… Check a few of these out. Sam, you will love the last 1:00min of the Guitar 101 video!
Sunday evening with FF on HD!
Tonight was the best experience with High Definition Television yet…. Foo Fighters Skin and Bones on HDNet.
Holy Cow, I love the Foo Fighters, but then you add the live element, acoustic guitars, crazy harmonica, violin, outstanding percussion and even the cowbell.
If you did not know, on DirecTV HDNet is all HD music on Sunday! Thanks John for the heads up.
Also, the most anticipated album of the Year… ECHOES, SILENCE, PATIENCE & GRACE comes out Sept 25th! I can not wait….
Dave Matthews Eh Hee Video
I just stumbled across Dave Matthews new video in iTunes. (It’s a free download right now) A little strange…and some “unique” lyrics.
Praise God who has many names
The devil have many more
With the love that my mother gave me
I’m gonna drop the devil to the floor
I’m gonna drop the devil to his knees
I’m gonna drop the devil to his knees
Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it’s greatest achievement
We’re barely, we’re just a collection of cells
Overrating themselves
Hello God I’m avoiding the truth
Things that make ya go hummmmm.

great lyrics
This has been a very busy week, so not a lot of posts…. Also, this has been a week of The John Butler Trio, and I love the guys more and more everyday. I now have every album they have every produced! Smoking awesome.
Here is one of my favorite songs, with amazing lyrics!
Artist: The John Butler Trio
Song: Good Excuse
All around I see raining
Things don’t seem to go my way
Got a dark cloud that’s hanging
And it seems to follow me
Oh boy won’t you just wake up
feel the humming
This good world is giving you
better start running
to catch up with your life, catch on up
Before the whole thing is through
Have you once? Have you twice?
Have you even conceived how
Really good boy you do got it
Go take another better look around
You are just another white boy
Thinking you’re so hard
Go take step outside see what’s shaking in the real world
Go take a step outside see what’s shaking in the real world
Go take a step outside see what’s shaking in the real world
But you don’t know
how my heart laments
I really got a good excuse
to complain
My parents got divorced
Can’t heal the pain
And now there is only cheap regrets
I guess thats just the way it be
Is it the world or how I see me
Boy now you are really, really bugging
Yes you are bugging me,
can you just shut right up
Your cup is overflowing, overflowing
And you think it is empty
You don’t even know what side
you are fighting for
Boy won’t you turn your game boy off
Stop pretending
it’s you against the world
I am sick and I am tried of hearing
you always say
I really got a good excuse to complain
My parents got divorced
Can’t heal the pain
Go take a step outside see what’s shaking in the real world

zeitgeist- review
“Oh, there won’t be any money, but when you die, on your death bed, you will receive total consciousness.” So I got that going for me, which is nice.
Today there will be no ear bud madness…but there is a album review.
I will start by going on record as a huge SP fan! For me, it all started back in High School with their original Gish album in 91. So, when I heard a new album was coming out, I was excited, and a little nervous about it. It has been 7 years since there last album, and I can say with confidence….we have missed you guys! The new Smashing Pumpkins however is missing a huge ingredient…James Iha! James was a huge part of the sound with his amazing guitar riffs, tones and his unique spin musically. So, the review….
Overall, the album is ok, maybe even good, but not great. I would give it a 7 out of 10 for my overall ranking.
Things I liked:
Unique sounds from song to song.
Billy’s emotion is poured into each song.
Chamberlin on drums is spectacular!
They still have the unique “feel” of Smashing Pumpkins.
Things I did not like:
Guitars are muddy and don’t really cut through.
Billy’s voice is weaker, and now his background vocals are not near as sharp as before.
Missing the song that just grabs me and holds me for entire 3 min.
Songs that are worth a download: In Order
Bleeding The Orchid
United States
That’s The Way (My Love Is)
Doomsday Clock
Starz
