Since moving to the apartment we have had to adjust our outdoor playing. Coming from a house with a backyard I think we were a little spoiled having a built in option to swing and play. So, this afternoon we played outside the apartment.
The games we played included:
Who can hang from the tree while being tickled
Run to the building and back as many times as you can
Ring around the tree
Hide the baby doll, and find the baby doll
It was a great Sunday for sure!
I am continually humbled by the success of The Blogging Church. I don’t think that Brian and I ever fathomed that so many people would have such great things to say about it. It is actually quite easier for me to stay humble because Brian was really the real brains behind this project!
Anyway, I just looked and see that we have 19 reviews on Amazon, and still hold a 5 star rating. I am guilty of not writing reviews on Amazon, so I need to get much better about that. If you have read the book, and have not reviewed it on Amazon we would really appreciate if you took the time to do that and give us your feedback as well.
I just found this video on YouTube… The Blogging Church in Australia, really cool.
Here is my 2007 reading list. One think that happens here at LifeChurch.tv is book studies. All new staff are taken through some key leadership books by a key staff member. You will see the books below noted as a “book study” book.
Confessions of a Pastor- Craig Groeschel
In a pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day- Mark Batterson
The Audacity of Hope- Barack Obama [currently reading]
Good to Great- Jim Collins (book study / revisited)
First Break all the Rules- (book study / revisited)
Now Discover your Strengths- (book study / revisited) [currently reading]
With all my challenges with Entourage over the past few days I forgot to mention a great lunch with Terrell Sanders the other day. Terrell is the president of Main Street Enterprises, a company dedicated to helping churches and non profits with web site design and development. Terrell is also the founder of ministryCOM.org.
A few months ago Terrell invited me to deliver the opening keynote at ministryCOM this year, so we were going over the details and talking about all the sessions. I plan on kicking off the conference with a talk entitled Communication Evolution Revolution! Something along the lines of communication is no longer evolving slowly…there has been a revolution. I will cover technology aspects, cultural aspects and more… I have a long way to flush the talk out, but the great thing about it is a lot will change by Sept 13-14th!
Hope to see you guys in Nashville. (more to come about this later)
I continually marvel a how small the world it today….
My grandmother, who is in her mid-eighty’s has NEVER been on an airplane. I would take a guess and say that she may have never been out of Texas. Talking with her she really has no desire to go anywhere else, or fly anywhere. Mema (her official grandma name) has never been on the Internet and does not have any desire.
Next generation my Mom. She is now fully connected to the web, sends email and uses her computer to connect with friends. She has email, and MS Word down!
Me…well, you know me. This morning I had a iChat video conference with a guy in Japan that is a LifeChurch.tv fan, and attends our Internet Campus. Full screen video, amazing interaction.
What will the world look like for Reese(2) and Reia(5)? They both are very active on Ruby, their iMac and are fully engaged with technology. Both of them can handle the Tivo remote and navigate there way to Backyardagans, Max and Ruby or Wiggles with ease. I am very confident that they will look at ol’ dad in the future and tell me I am so out of date!
iChat to Japan this morning…teleport to Experience Island in Second Life this afternoon…what will we be doing next year?
When we moved to Edmond, OK one of the big decisions we made was to build a house. After looking all around, and visiting some homes we decided that building was the way to go. We have “built” 2 homes, and bought 1 pre-existing home. I know there are pros and cons on both sides but Robin and I are admittedly VERY picky… When you are as nit picky as us we decided that this was the best solution.
If you look close you can see little Reese in the picture!
So, in the last 3 months… changing jobs, moving out of state, building a house… No wonder I have to color my hair!
As only George Costanza could put it….
“I’m back baby!”
