Iowa voted for: CHANGE!

Well I was wrong on just about everything except 1 big thing….Clinton finished last on the Democrat side. I did get that right!

Final Results from the Iowa Caucus:

Democrats

1. Obama 38%
2. Edwards 30%
3. Clinton 29%

Republican (86% in)

1. Huckabee 34%
2. Romney 25%
3. McCain 14%
4. Thompson 13%
5. Paul 10%

The biggest thing that stood out to me about Iowa was the uniform vote for change in America. Bottom line, Obama and Huckabee both are a core vote for change. Obama has always been about change, and Huckabee could not be anymore different than the current Republican regime. This was a horrible night for Hillary Clinton, and a really bad night for Mitt Romney. It will be very interesting to see the next few Caucuses. It “could” be a dangerous and slippery slope for Clinton and Romney.

The Money: (cash on hand)
Obama – 36 mil
Edwards- 12.3
Clinton- 50.4 mil

Huckabee- .6 mil
Romney- 9.2 mil
McCain-3.4 mil
Thompson- 7.1 mil
Paul- 5.4 mil
Giulliani- 16.6 mil

Next Caucuses Primaries to watch:
New Hampshire, January 8th
South Carolina, January 19th
Nevada, January 19th
Florida, January 29th

In closing: Obama’s speech was amazing, almost a goose bump speech. Huckabee’s speech was really, really good. The next few weeks is going to be awesome…The race to Super Tuesday is on!

Unintelligent Iowa Predictions

I was totally inspired by Brian, and his post about Iowa Caucus predictions. He is also going to be posting tonight on his Twitter…so I recommend following him if you are interested.

Here are my prediction for the Iowa caucuses.

Democrats

1. Edwards 27%
2. Obama 26%
3. Clinton 25%
All other Democrats will fall under the 15% required.

Republicans

1. Romney 28%
2. Huckabee 26%
3. Paul 16%
4. McCain 9%

My Unintelligent and rookie political thoughts… The Democrats are going to be a LOT of fun to watch. I think it will be VERY close…but the 4 year campaigning from Edwards will pay off for all the uncertain voters. I also think the Clinton camp will really be in a tail spin from coming in 3rd and the crazy spin will come out for sure! On the Republican side I think Romney will pull it out because of Huckabees stumbles this last week. I think people see through his stunt with the (non)airing of his negative video. I also think that Paul’s supporters will come out in a big way and come in with a very strong 3rd. McCain will come in with a solid percentage and I do think that Thompson will drop out after Iowa.

Who knows…but this is a lot of fun.

Road Trip – kinda!

I am sitting in the OKC airport on my way to Phoenix. My flight lands at 10:16am and I will be picking up my new (used) 2004 Honda Element! Wooohooo…..

The plan is to get out of Phoenix by noon, and drive 1,020 miles back to OKC. The iPod is loaded up with over 8,000 songs, the Blackberry is fully charged, Starbucks are mapped out….and there will be plenty of Diet Coke along the way.. Here is a dedicated Flickr set that will follow the Journey.

Time to board the plane…cya!

Want to go to church tonight? 6pm CDT Internet Campus experience tonight because of the crazy Oklahoma weather. Check it out here.

I am looking to buy a really good used Honda Element…know anyone who can hook me up?

I really love simple things. Tumblr.com is awesome.

There is no way schools will be open tomorrow. Let it snow, let it snow!

Vacation Planning

Robin and I are in the middle of planning our 2008 vacation. Right now we are really leaning on Seattle, WA.

However, I wanted to ask you guys….what do you think about Seattle as a vacation destination. Is there somewhere you would recommend? (in the states only please)

I found this on YouVersion today. We launched version .01 of the Dashboard, and it lets you see the most recent contributions to YouVersion as well as some other stuff I will blog about later.

Anyway…I thought the video was great. Very convicting for me since I have a very hard time turning the critique mode off! Actually if I was really honest with you, I would tell you I do not currently have the ability to “ever” turn the critique switch off.

Time for a Swing Change?

Years ago, with TerryStorch.com (1.0) I did a weekly Leadership Tip that I called 52 Leadership Tips. When TS.com (1.0) went away it was one of the many casualties of war. However, this week I had a great conversation with a great friend and referred back to this concept because it was exactly what we both needed. So here ya go…Throw back TerryStorch.com stuff.

52 Leadership Tips- #21 (Throw back!)

Swing Change, originally posted April 11, 2005 @ 04:44

April 10th, 2005 Tiger Woods won his fourth green jacket from the illustrious Master’s. This was in my personal opinion the finest two hours of television that I might have ever seen.

But what many non-golfers might not know was the huge controversy going around about Tigers “swing change” back in 2004. If you are not aware of Tiger success, let me give you some bullet points.

- 1975 Tigers born
- 1996 Won 2 tournaments
- 1997 Won 5 tournaments (1 major)
- 1998 Won 3 tournaments
- 1999 Won 11 tournaments (1 major)
- 2000 Won 11 tournaments (3 majors)
- 2001 Won 8 tournaments (1 major)
- 2002 Won 7 tournaments (2 majors)
- 2003 Won 5 tournaments
- 2004 Won 3 tournaments
- 2005 Won 3 tournaments (1 major)
- 2006 Won 8 tournaments (2 major) update
- 2007 Won 7 tournaments (1 major) update
Career Won 61 tournaments (13 majors) $76,579,376 earnings

All of Tiger’s critics are saying that he made a stupid decision to change his swing. Tiger was on the top of his game, the best golfer in the world, and he goes off and changes his swing. Why? Why would Tiger do that? Simple, he wants to get better. Tiger saw that with his current swing, he was as good as he was going to be. And that was not good enough for him, so he made a change. A change that set him back, a change that everyone was against, a change that not many people understood.

So, a lot of golf talk today but please do not miss the point. “Swing Change” can be replaced with many different words. What do you and I need to change? Where do we need to go against the grain, against what everyone is saying and change in our companies, churches, organizations? It might be working perfectly now, humming along. Your profits might be higher than they have ever been. Your church may be packed with more people that you have ever had. Who knows what it is, but can it last, are you as good as you can be? Look around the corner, and do not get caught up in being the best today and lacking vision. You might need to change your swing and take a few steps back so you can be even better in the future.

“I don’t want to get back to (year) 2000. I want to become better. I want to become better than that.” -Tiger Woods
