There is a great format for respecting leadership and disagreeing pretty much all the time. It's called marriage.

If you want to see something really funny watch this.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=XlzFohgYbnA

Yes you can fall under leadership and respect the person but disagree with the person at the same time.

I think there is a difference between quality political satire and humor that directly insults a person's intelligence. This same practice was very popular and similarly inappropriate in the case of Dan Quayle. Making fun of a political position is far different than making fun of an individual.

And even if this type of material has been a part of the culture for 300 years, that does not make it right.

My mistake....

The paragraph should have said...

Throughout the ages, leadership has been questioned and it has sparked innovation, as well as conflict, failure, etc.. Without it, we’d be chiseling our words on stone and riding around in Fred Flintstone cars.

You have to be either right or left - and agree with everything your party says. Kidding of course… although that seems to be the path our political parties are taking.

Respect for leadership is scriptural. But we have a responsibility to disagree and create debate – respectfully. Throughout the ages, leadership has been questioned and it has sparked Without it, we’d be chiseling our words on stone and riding around in Fred Flintstone cars.

Not sure how many copies of “The Chiseling Church” you would have sold.

Being a part of the evangelical right, I am quite amuzed when our blindspots are revealed in humor...it beats a poke in the eye or being shot on a hunting trip.

Brian, like Scott said... I really do not think this is a new trend at all.

I am not so sure this has anything to do with disrespect. You can respect someone and not agree with them cant you? I did not post this for any political reasons at all, it just thought it was hilarious!

But you do raise a great question.... Can you fall under someones leadership, respect there position but totally disagree with them on an issue. Hummm.... Thoughts...?
