Linkin Park
Ok, 24 hours with the much anticipated new Linkin Park Minutes to Midnight album and I LOVE IT. I had to listen through the album at least 6 times before I really know what I think.

Funny, the album is not getting great reviews. Why? It is a lot different then there previous albums. Linkin Park adjusted there style a little bit, changed up there sounds but they are still Linkin Park without a doubt.

What I like?
The Guitar tones, riff and sounds are totally amazing.
Wide range of sounds and feels (moods) throughout the album.
Love that Mike Shinoda has two songs of his own on the album.
I like that they brought in a “classic rock” meets hip-hop sound.

What I think is missing?
I would love to have more “heavy” guitar driven metal/rap songs!

I love the album and actually I like it more every time I listen to it. As I listen right now I am hearing a lot of The Edge sounds and fills in track 5. Hope ya enjoy….

  • Hey Terry – I haven’t listened to this album, but am a Linkin Park fan, mostly because they were able to be pretty “forward” in their songs and not use bad language. Now I notice on iTunes, that the album is PG and each song is labeled explicit…..did they change in that way too??

  • Lori, great question. If you want a totally clean language free version go with the Clean Version from iTunes. The original does have some Explicit lyrics but its not off the charts….

  • Terry, I do like the new album. It’s taken a few listens for it to grow on me but that’s usually the case when you’re used to a certain sound then get something different. I think my favorite track is #4 “Bleed it out”. It’s got that old school sound of the rap/metal going on plus some really cool guitar sections. I also like “Shadow of the day” for one of the slower songs.
I hope we don’t have to wait so long for their next release.

  • Bleed it out is great! It was great on SNL live as well. I totally agree…I hope they release another album much sooner!

  • Well aren’t they brilliant? They figured out how to cuss. The first time I heard them throw an F-Bomb I had to issue a WTF?

The album is pretty solid. You can still hear certain parts on the songs where they WOULD have previously had a little rap repeat of what the dude had just sang.

Anywho, one thumb up since it’s fairly cookie cutter. You could plug any of the previous American Idols in to sing to the tracks and get a hit.

For two thumbs up check out the new NIN – Year Zero!!! They’ve always thrown down the F-Bomb.

  • Hey, Love this site… tks
