2007 Reading List

Here is my 2007 reading list. One think that happens here at LifeChurch.tv is book studies. All new staff are taken through some key leadership books by a key staff member. You will see the books below noted as a “book study” book.

Confessions of a Pastor- Craig Groeschel
In a pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day- Mark Batterson
The Audacity of Hope- Barack Obama [currently reading]
Good to Great- Jim Collins (book study / revisited)
First Break all the Rules- (book study / revisited)
Now Discover your Strengths- (book study / revisited) [currently reading]

  • How is the Audacity of Hope? We were talking about it at the Book & Reading Forums. Do you think Obama will win?

  • I am just in the beginning of it. So far it is well written and moves along nicely.

Do I think Obama will win. Wow, we are way to early in the race to call that one. I am not even sure he can win the Democrat nomination.

My fascination is not so much with Obama, but more with his “marketing” power, and his Oprah like charm. He is doing an amazing job with leveraging the Internet and the power of social networking.

  • I have read the first four…In a Pit and Good to Great are must reads.

Although Obama is more economically liberal than myself, he has some appeal. I was more interested in his chapter on faith but he is the most marketable of the candidates…some feel he is too smooth, almost Bill Clinton like.

The Red candidates lack something at this point.

  • Is that Groeschel guy any good?

  • Yea, that Groeschel guy can bring it. On paper and on stage. Even better now with his new hair do. Have you seen it. Prison Break style!

I keep telling Robin my wife…when I am done with the long hair I am shaving it!

  • I have read “Now, Discover Your Strengths” and loved it and I am in the process of beginning his next book - “Go Put Your Strengths to Work” and loved “Good to Great”. Great book choices.
