adjustment

Today called for a minor adjustment. Things have been a little crazy for me for the past few weeks, and will continue to be that way for a while. During times like these I tend to “dig in”, to focus intensly and what can happen is I will focus so much to what is right in front of me, that I can loose perspective and creativity….So I have found it is critical for me to make minor adjustments to keep sharp, creative and focused.

So, today I went home for lunch for a few reasons.(i never go home for lunch)
Ellie Tennis Food
First, Ellie. Since all the girls are still out of town, and will not be back until Saturday I have been working a ton…and not home hardly at all. So, it was a great time to hang out with Ellie.
Second, Wimbledon is on, and I am a huge Tennis fan! It was a great opportunity to catch a quick 30 min of the early rounds and remind myself of the “good-ol days”.
And finally, nothing better than chilling on the couch with 5 bucks of Chineese food that could feed an army!

Time is up, back to work….but not before I can pick up one of these:
Bucks
How do you make adjustments….do you have to?

  • funny, this week i have been making myself TAKE lunches. even though this is the second busiest week of my year, as part of the “simplifying” process, i know i need some away time, so it has been nice!

  • Oh man, all the time. Especially now, when I’m at a point in my life where things are changing at an exponential rate. Sometimes, just taking an alternate route home is enough to help me make it through the rest of the day. Other times, a run along the river or a trip to my favorite coffee shop does the trick. But man, life is serious crazy for me right now.

  • At this point the girls and I are ready to be home adjusting with you. Esp after today’s events. Give Ellie big hugs for us. XOXOXOXOO

  • I know that with Gina and I both working we must be vigilant in adjustinig. One way we have adjusted is we have a standing date every Friday night. We even went so far as to book our baby sitter for every week unless we call her and say otherwise. Sometimes all we do is go Starbucks and enjoy each others company for a few hours.

  • I’m pretty bad about working through lunch or eating standing up and getting right back to it. But here are a couple of things I do:

    1. Coffe and Reading:
If I can get away, I like to go to Barnes and Noble and relax for a while. Catch up on MacWorld, Mix, or other mags.

    2. I Ride the train:
I live 3 miles from a Dart station (Dallas area rapid transit) So I ride the train to work as often as possible. Our church sits about 50 yards from a dart station as well. I get a lot of reading and unwinding time just riding the train 30 minutes each way.
