bloggers unite- end sucky titles now!
Yes, that is correct. I talked about it in a book, talked about it with others, and have blogged about it…and still…my blog titles suck.
I have know this for a while, and have not really done anything about it. The kicker for me was this…Google Reader on my Blackberry. I fly through tons of posts on my Bberry and 90% of my filter is the title.
It is time to put sucky titles behind me….and I ask you join me is eliminating sucky titles from the blog world! Bloggers unite! Post right now about ending sucky titles….make the blog world a better place.

…out of curiousity, what makes a sucky title? I’m wondering if I need to go back and re-title some of my posts.

You could have at least started your new approach to titles with this entry.
Good titles also bring good traffic. I had a phenomenal increase in traffic recently following a few posts on the Nikon D40. Analyzing the referral search queries, good titling probably helped the article’s relevance.
(Not that we’re in it for traffic…)

Uh - Finding the title is the worst part of posting. Yeah, I’m in on the revolution. Have any ideas of what you’re suggesting instead?
I’m getting ready to go through all my posts to reorganize the categories - I’ve sucked at consistency on those too!

That’s right, Terry. You can’t just tell us there’s a problem–you have to bring us solutions. What makes a good blog post title?

I think you should back up your claim about sucky titles by giving us a post on the “Top Ten Suckiest Blog Titles” you’ve seen. Why? No reason, I just wanna be amused. Those are the blog posts I read, anyway.
