Wow, what a game last night! 6 Romo turnovers and they still come out on top. A sign of a great team is when they play like crap, face adversity, and still come out with a win! Below is what Bill Parcell’s gave to Tony Romo, and Tony still has it in his locker. Some great nuggets for sure!Bill Parcell’s 10 Quarterback Commandments1) Ignore other opinions- Family, friends, fans- Ignore on matters of football (work); they don’t know what’s happening here2) Clowns can’t run a huddle- Clowns and leaders don’t mix- Don’t forget to have fun, but don’t be the class clown3) Fat QB’s can’t avoid the rush- QBs throw more with their legs than their arms- Stay healthy and energized; not lazy and sloppy- Keep strong those things that will take you the distance4) Know your job cold- Keep your errors to a minimum- Study5) Know your own players- Who can perform- Who needs encouragement- Be precise- Know your opponent6) Be the same guy everyday- in condition- preparing to lead- studying your plan- a coach can’t prepare you for every eventuality- prepare yourself- remember that impulse decisions usually equal mistakes7) Throwing the ball away is a good thing- work smart- protect against mistakes8 ) Learn to manage the game- personnel, play call, motion, ball handling, proper reads, clock, clock, clock- don’t ever lose track of the clock9) Get your team in the end zone- passing stats and TD passes are not how you’re going to be judged- your job is to get your team in the end zone10) Don’t panic- When all around you is in chaos, you must be the hand that stears the ship- If you have a panic button, so well everyone else- Our ship can’t have panic buttons11) Don’t be a celebrity quarterback; we don’t need any of those- We need battlefield commanders that are willing to fight it out everyday, every week, and every season and lead their team to win, after win, after win
Those are words not only for a good QB, but also for pastors, leaders, anyone who has to work with people.
What a great game!!
What an up and down rollercoaster. What i enjoyed the most was how Tony Romo talked to the reporters after the game. He admitted that he had a bad game and his performace was weak, yet he was secure enough to joke about how many interceptions he had in the game. When i fail horribly or minorly am I able to laugh at myself and admit poor performance?
That’s why I am not a Bills fan any more…..
Hey.. I didn’t know you had a blog!
nice job with the commandments, I’ve been looking all over for them for my son Matt Ryan.
Great Post! I’ve been trying to find the “Ten Commandments” since Monday night.
Thanks.
