format the macbook pro!

Last night I had to format and reinstall OS X on the MacBook Pro.

The laptop was crawling, and it just got way to much of a pain in the rear to deal with! But now, now we are back baby. The laptop is smoking fast again.

So allow me to debunk any myths that you don’t have to rebuild Macs….that is just a load of crapla! (If you are one of the crazy PC fanatics, this is your post to load with comments!)

  • Yeah, mac’s certainly aren’t perfect. My MBP has been acting up lately as well.

Still, I’d like to see those PC Fanatics render a video with FCP, while compressing a video to h.264 using compressor at the same time! All the while browsing blogs and checking email.

  • haven’t heard of too many MBP problems. Is it a newer laptop? How much free hard drive space was left when you were slowing down?

  • Man, I wish I had a MBP. Reformatting is far better than clicking on….anything, and then getting up and going to the bathroom only to return and discover that the program is still loading. So I reiterate…I wish I had a MBP……………LUCKYYYY!

  • I’m gonna be getting a MBP in a few weeks - It’ll be a nice lil’ upgrade from my iMac G5 :)

  • My comment turned into a blog entry.

  • Yep, I have to rebuild my personal mac about every 6 months. But, I was having to rebuild my PC every 2-3 months. So, in my mind, that makes OSX twice as good as XP. :)

  • @Joshua:

I’d like to see FCP run on Windows at all, never mind seeing a PC render in FCP while doing other stuff :-) I don’t use Macs as my primary system, but I got quite adept at FCP when I used to help out at church with the video dept. (before I got hired to do their IT and didn’t have time for the video stuff). They even sent me and our media pastor to LA for Final Cut Pro Advanced Training. It’s an excellent editor…and the main reason I can think of for wanting a Mac! (Although there are others. Expense keeps me from getting one at home right now.)
